Legislative Session
LEGISLATIVE SESSION HAS BEEN POSTPONED! We will hold Legislative Session on the scheduled snow date, February 13. This decision was made in consultation with the host region's school district and advisor. For registration changes, see below.
Regarding Felix Simon and Principal/Advisor of the Year Packets:
Please place them in the mail to the address below as soon as possible. All packets should be in the MASC office by February 3. The executive director will be in the office Monday and Wednesday to collect packets which have been mailed. Other arrangements can also be made by contacting the executive director.
Regarding Registration - from the MASC Registrar:
Given the postponement of Legislative Session to the Snow Date of February 13th, I know there will be necessary changes. This poses an additional challenge in that Convention registration will be opening and closing within the period of time before Leg. Session occurs. The following guidelines have been approved by Mr. Ledebur and we ask that you read them carefully and follow them strictly.
- Substituting and registering additional delegates (up to twice your allowed votes) for Leg. Session can be done without any Substitution or Late Fees being incurred. (This does not cancel Late Fees already assessed, however.)
- Make any changes to your Leg. Session delegation via email to me at wayne.perry@gmail.com. PLEASE INCLUDE IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR EMAIL, “FOR LEG. SESSION.” I will then respond by email to confirm the changes/additions as well as the new balance that may be due (for additional delegates only).
- We hope you will try to arrange for substitutes first, but if the change of date creates the need to cancel any registrations, whether it is one or your entire delegation, send that information to Mr. Ledebur at LLedebur@msde.state.md.us, not to me. He will approve then process the refund and forward the information to me to update your registration data. Sending this information to me will only hold up processing your refund and possibly confuse things even more than they are going to be.
- If the attending advisor for your school (whether yourself or someone else) has to cancel, follow the previous instruction re: cancellations, but be sure that I am informed as to who the replacement will be. This is critical. No student may attend MASC events without being under the supervision of a school authorized adult. The expected advisor/student ratio is no more than 10 students to 1 advisor.
- Some of you were bringing money or other paperwork to submit at check-in on-site tomorrow. Now that we have time, PLEASE MAIL IT to Wayne Perry, MASC Registrar, P.O. Box 343, Forest Hill, MD 21050. This will make things go so much easier and quicker for you at check-in. You’ll be glad you did. Just please mark the envelope “For Leg. Session.”
- If your school or system requires anything else, please just let me know.
Thanks,
Wayne Perry, MASC Registrar
MASC Sweatshirts
For one of the MASC fundraisers this year, MASC would like to bring back the coveted MASC hoodie! This would be a black, hooded sweatshirt (50/50, 9 oz. good fabric quality) with pocket in the front, and of course, a hood.
The sweatshirt will be on sale at various MASC events for $22 for most sizes. This is a HUGE discount from the sale of previous sweatshirts costing $30. The sale money will go to cover the cost of the sweatshirt, contribute to our state charity, and help pay for various items at MASC conferences and events.
An pre-order form for Legislative Session is attached to this post.
